The sequel to the 2006 original, Assualt Heroes 2 is an addictive, arcade-style, top-down shooter video game developed by Wanako Studios. Released this May, while this game doesn’t do anything drastically different over the first game, however it aims to please you even when you are among those who traditionally don’t like to play this genre.
The core gameplay remains the same as the earlier one. Once again, for the sake of freedom and liberty, players take down enemies in a supercharged vehicle or on foot, shooting anything that moves, be it humans trying to elimainate them or sinister alien forces. This game's all about shooting. Instead of using the same old ride, you'll find new vehicles like a helicopter, an armored tank, and weapons galore (including a flame-thrower, grenades, a power blaster, a machine gun and the new freeze gun) to keep you busy, Each new ride has a unique control scheme. All of them are fun, especially when you plow through dozens of enemy soldiers and all weapons come handy while blasting a suicide bomber to pieces to chip away at the outer shell of a tank.
The game works very well. Wanako did some touch-ups to the game visuals. The visuals look better than before. If you get bored playing single-player action, you can join a friend which forces you to strategize. The game supports two player co-op multiplayers both on-and-offline, and teammates may link weapons for increased damage. The music has also been perked up a bit, replacing the original game’s background techno. The only downslide is a sense of repetitiveness. In spite of the improvements, the game ends too soon, with only three difficulty levels and so many Achievements to unlock. This lighter side of wanton destruction is well worth the download.
