Imagine a world where the only weapons are musical instruments – A musical combat!!! Battle of the bands is one such game that brings this concept alive – despite the over popular violence inflicted sadistic games, BOTB is a world of musical genocide where your rhythmic skills and weaponized instruments are your tools for domination.

Battle of the Bands is a video game published by THQ and developed by Planet Moon Studios for the Wii console. It is a rhythm game in a similar style to the Guitar Hero series, however does not use any peripherals outside of the standard Wii Remote.

The Battle of the Bands comes in five genres - Rock, Country, Marching Band, Hip Hop and Ranchero. Not only that its repertoire boasts of eleven unique style bands, thirty licensed track. In Addition to all of this there are seventy special weapons and attacks.

The aim to the game is to match beats that are played in one genre for about 10 to 15 seconds and then another, flipping back and forth and successive matches will automatically launch weapons such as smoke bombs, land mines and flip outs. The more points earned, the more the music will be played in that particular players genre.

Okay so what if it’s not really a battle on the battle field, it sure does help that whole idea of good ole’ skool battling of bands. The music set for this game is on the lines of Soundgarden with Spoonman, Def Leppard with Photograph and the classic Ram Jam’s – Black Betty.

So if not for the concept you have to check it out for the music – its nothing like going head to head with greats like Dee Dee Ramone, Rick James and the likes.
